A preliminary investigation of endophytic fungal diversity at Hope, East Coast Demerara, Guyana

نویسندگان

چکیده

Foliar endophytic fungi spend a part of their life cycle on the leaves plants. They may demonstrate no apparent symptoms but also cause disease at later time in plant’s life. Studies investigating foliar fungal endophytes mangroves are limited. Therefore, purpose this study was to investigate present three mangrove species: namely Red (Rhizophora mangle), Black (Avicennia germinans) and White (Laguncularia racemosa). The site an area located Hope, East Coast Demerara, South America, Guyana. Out sixty (60) leaf samples that were prepared, fourteen (14) isolates identified. Most isolated found be Hyphomycetes (Aspergillus, Fusarium, Penicillium, Alternaria, Cladosporium Curvularia) while others Zygomorphic (Mucor Rhizopus). ANOVA calculations for from species not statistically significant. R mangle preferred host out (3) species. findings confirm have rich diversity research biochemical potential.

Fungal Diversity The endophytic mycobiota of the grass Dactylis glomerata

Fungal endophytes were isolated from asymptomatic and symptomatic plants of Dactylis glomerata sampled in different ecosystems in Spain. Fungi were identified using morphological, as well as molecular methods based on internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and ribosomal DNA sequencing. Molecular data provided a framework for identification and assessing the phylogenetic position of isolates. One hun...

Culturable Fungal Endophytes Isolated from the Roots of Coastal Plants Inhabiting Korean East Coast

Twelve plant species were collected from the east coast of Korea to identify culturable endophytes present in their roots. The fungal internal transcribe spacer (ITS) region (ITS1-5.8SrRNA-ITS2) was used as a DNA barcode for identification of fungi. A total of 194 fungal strains were identified and categorized into 31 genera. The genus Penicillium accounted for the largest number of strains, fo...

Distribution, Characterization, and Diversity of the Endophytic Fungal Communities on Korean Seacoasts Showing Contrasting Geographic Conditions

This study analyzed the distribution of endophytic fungi in 3 coastal environments with different climatic, geographical, and geological characteristics: the volcanic islands of Dokdo, the East Sea, and the West Sea of Korea. The isolated fungal endophytes were characterized and analyzed with respect to the characteristics of their host environments. For this purpose, we selected common native ...

Diversity of endophytic fungal community associated with Piper hispidum (Piperaceae) leaves.

Tropical and subtropical plants are rich in endophytic community diversity. Endophytes, mainly fungi and bacteria, inhabit the healthy plant tissues without causing any damage to the hosts. These fungi can be useful for biological control of pathogens and plant growth promotion. Some plants of the genus Piper are hosts of endophytic microorganisms; however, there is little information abou...
